Today we’re going to look at what the typical day of a fantasy cricket league captain might look like. It’s been my experience that most people who play fantasy cricket feel like they have it all figured out, but I’ve found this isn’t always the case – especially as the stakes get higher and your knowledge of the game becomes more advanced. In any case, here are five lessons I’ve learned from being a successful fantasy cricket league captain that you may be able to apply to your own league(s). These lessons apply to fantasy cricket in general, but can also be applied to other sports-based leagues if applicable.
1) These Are the Things I Did Before My Fantasy Cricket Match
From double-checking my team lineups to communicating with other captains in my league, today was not an ordinary day. For me, it was a typical day of a cricket league captain. Here are some things I did: I checked in on all of my players using my fantasy cricket app. Fantasy sports is very popular in India and they’re starting to take over from actual sports.
2) This Is How I Prepared My Team Before My Match
The perfect Fantasy Cricket team can win you some serious cash, but there’s more than just your captain that you need to think about. You should develop your team by drafting players who will consistently rack up points for you on match days and those who aren’t as consistent but could explode for massive scores. If you want to succeed in fantasy cricket, it’s important that your first few matches go well and therefore preparation is key. Before I played my first match as captain of one of our office leagues, I made sure I took all of these things into account: 1) Identify players with multiple matches: A lot of people select three or four high-profile batsmen and then hope they perform on every match day.
3) This Is How I Kept Track of Every Player
For anyone that has ever played fantasy cricket in india, you know just how much time goes into getting together your team for each match. Finding players, trading with other teams (if you’re in an auction format league), building up your bankroll, etc. is incredibly time-consuming. And for me—as captain of my league team—I had three different sets of issues to manage: building my own team; managing trade requests; and fielding trade offers from other teams (and trying to convince them they need me more than I need them). Not only was there always something on my plate each day during my fantasy cricket season, but I had constant feedback on how I was doing—from both friends and strangers who watched my games play out.
4) After Each Match, Here’s How I Stayed Organized
First, I tried using Excel to schedule my matches. It was slow and clumsy. Instead, I used an app called CricHQ, which is like fantasy football meets fantasy baseball for cricket. (Cricket fans—stay with me.) The app allows you to create leagues, assign teams and players to them, draft your team members during pre-season, review match results every week for each of your players in real time—even watch live matches while you’re doing it! Best of all: You don’t have to do any of that if you don’t want! If you just want results at season’s end, CricHQ will generate them for you automatically based on your league performance.
5) This Is How I Managed My Time During Matches
After every match, I took 15 minutes and used an online fantasy cricket app (such as Dream11 or Fantasycricket.in) to figure out my next lineup, keeping in mind both batting and bowling strategies for each remaining opponent. Then I hit submit on my team, forcing me to move on. Next, I looked at my previous day’s performance on ESPNcricinfo, India Today Sports or Cricbuzz. Did I have any weak players? How many runs had they scored? How many wickets had they taken? This helped me determine their value for future matches—and think of potential replacements if they hadn’t performed up to standards.
